History/Overview
Last year, Audi expanded its range of in-between SUV offerings with the Q5 Sportback, a crossover coupe based on the Q5 compact crossover but with a sleeker body designed to look more like a car than a sport utility.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, Audi has added a few items to the Q5 Sportback’s standard features list, which we’ve detailed below.
Available Trims
Audi offers the Q5 Sportback in Progressiv and Technik trim levels. Power is from a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine with mild hybrid assist, a seven-speed transmission, and all-wheel drive.
Standard Features
New to this year’s Progressiv trim level is a hands-free tailgate, ambient lighting, and Amazon Alexa integration.
Carried forward from last year are LED headlights and taillights, passive keyless entry, heated/power-folding/auto-dimming side mirrors, and 19-inch wheels.
Inside, you get heated front seats and steering wheel, three-zone A/C, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, aluminum trim, panoramic sunroof, Apple CarPlay, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, navigation, and digital gauges.
Q5 Sportback’s driver assist suite comprises rain-sensing wipers, automatic high beams, front and rear parking sensors, city-speed forward collision mitigation, rear collision mitigation, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and exit warning.
New Technik trim features for 2022 include wireless phone charging, adaptive cruise control, all-speed forward collision mitigation, traffic congestion assist, road sign recognition, active lane assist, and hands-on detection.
Technik also brings upgraded LED headlights with washers, dynamic taillights, heated rear seats, temperature-controlled cupholders, electric steering column adjustments, a Bang & Olufsen stereo, and a top-view camera.
Key Options
A comfort package available on both trims brings ventilated sport seats with lumbar, and rear door sun shades.
To Progressiv, an advanced driver assistance pack brings adaptive cruise, and all of the Technik model’s new-for-2022 safety items listed above.
Both trims can add 20-inch wheels in two different S line packages.
Fuel Economy
Audi’s fuel consumption estimates are 10.3/8.4 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
The Q5 Sportback’s most direct competitors are the BMW X4 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, a pair of similarly styled compact SUV coupes.
